The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team will take on SUNY Oswego and SUNY Cortland this Friday and Saturday. The Hawks enter SUNYAC play with a 1-0 record.
"Coming off a great weekend at the Vassar Scramble, it's going to set us up nicely for a run in, which is all conference play," said SUNY New Paltz coach Rob Bruley.
With their sole conference match coming against Plattsburgh State Sept. 7, the Hawks are gearing up for a full weekend of SUNYAC play.
"It's a big weekend for us," said SUNY New Paltz sophomore Alexandra Dratch. "We want to show them that we are ready and that we're going to give them a fight for the conference championship."
The Lakers are on a five-game losing streak and enter the weekend 1-5 on the year and 0-2 in conference, taking losses against SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Oneonta. The Red Dragons are 3-2 overall, but are also 0-2 in SUNYAC after falling to the Knights and opposing Red Dragons earlier this month.Â
The Hawks are looking to be the top ranked seed in the conference, with this weekend being a big step in that direction.Â
Friday's match at Oswego starts at 3 p.m. and the match at Cortland starts at 11 a.m.
