The State University of New York at New Paltz men's volleyball's Mathew Grace has been named one of the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) Players of the Week after guiding the Hawks to two weekend wins against Arcadia University and UVC rival Nazareth College this past Saturday.
Against the Knights and Golden Flyers, Grace recorded 79 assists (11.3 per set) while adding two kills, three service aces, eight digs and two blocks. In a three-set win over Nazareth, Grace recorded 30 assists and recorded a season high of three aces. Later on in the day, Grace put down an additional 49 assists during SUNY New Paltz's four set win over Arcadia.
This season, Grace is the assist-leader for the Hawks recording a whopping 412, but also leads the entire UVC with 10.3 assists per set. Additionally, Grace is the standing all-time assists leader at SUNY New Paltz with 3,821 in his career, and counting.
SUNY New Paltz looks to keep its winning streak alive Friday when it takes on No. 5 Stevens in the Hawk Center at 7 p.m.
