Syracuse, NY --- The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its weekly awards Monday with Hawks junior
Laura Koob earning SUNYAC Tennis Singles Athlete of the Week honors.

Koob not only helped the Hawks to a 8-3 win in first doubles, but she was moved up in the lineup to first singles against Oneonta Sunday. Playing against Olivia Fraser, Koob came back to win in a tie-breaker, 6-0, 5-6, 13-11 after falling behind in the third set to earn the win. New Paltz is the top seed in the East division going into the SUNYAC championship.
The accolade is the second in her career for Koob, who was named Doubles Team of the Week back in 2019 with partner Trinity Chow, and her first SUNYAC Singles Athlete of the Week honor.
The Hawks are fighting for their third-straight SUNYAC trophy Thursday when they enter SUNYAC play. Both semifinal and finals are scheduled on the same day. Details to follow.
