NEW PALTZ, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz swim teams played host to Adelphi University at Elting Pool Friday. The women's team took first while the men finished in second place for the dual meet competition.
Amanda O'Brien finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:34.47. Kelly Schwerzer finished first in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:03.99. Alex Kassian finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.77. Kassian also finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke as well as the 200-yard IM with time(s) of 2:34.94 and 2:16.44 respectively. Kirsten Giovanniello finished first in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:18.04. Kelly Donlevy claimed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.19. Sierra Depry finished first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.86. Candela Sandoval took first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:08.54. The women took first in the 200-yard medley relay (Schwerzer, Kassian, DePry, and Donlevy) with a time of 1:57.36.

Antonio Vavalle took first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:02.46. Euan Barclay took second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:59.13. Myles Dower took second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.30. Venn Engstrom finished second in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.92. Korey Barber finished second in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:09.19. Steven Macaluso finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.57. Owen Rowlands took second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:08.23. The men took second in the 200-yard freestyle relay (Barber, Lucas Hoyt, Dower, and Paul Castner) with a time of 1:31.99.
