New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz men's lacrosse team released its 2023 schedule Wednesday. The Hawks are seeking to improve on their 2022 season with new additions that includes the hiring of a new head coach Dylan Neisler.  

SUNY New Paltz opens the season hosting Maritime College on Feb. 22 with the Hawks losing 13-4 in their last meeting. They then head to Farmingdale State College to face off against the Rams before hosting Morrisville State and Mount Saint Mary College March 4 and March 8, respectively. SUNY New Paltz battled through a one-goal game against the Knights last season, falling 10-9 in overtime while also taking a road loss against the Mustangs in 2022, 14-9. The Hawks next travel to play the Mitchell College Mariners on March 11 for the first matchup between the two programs.  

SUNY New Paltz hosts St. Joseph's College-Long Island and College of Mount Saint Vincent on March 15 and March 18, respectively. The Hawks lost another tight one-goal contest last year against the Golden Eagles, 5-4 and will face the Dolphins for the first time after last season's game was canceled due to weather. SUNY New Paltz ends non-conference play by traveling to face SUNY Delhi on March 22 with the Hawks beating the Broncos last season, 19-8 to earn one of their program-best three wins in 2022. 

SUNY New Paltz begins conference play at home against Plattsburgh State on March 25 at 1 p.m. before heading to SUNY Geneseo to face the Knights April 1. The Hawks continue SUNYAC play at South Turf Field, hosting SUNY Cortland, Oswego State, and SUNY Potsdam on April 8, April 15 and April 22, respectively. They conclude the regular season on the road at SUNY Oneonta on April 26 and The College at Brockport April 29. The Hawks secured their first ever SUNYAC victory last season with a 13-10 win at home over the rival Red Dragons.

The semifinal round of the SUNYAC Tournament begins May 3 at the first and second seeded teams' fields, with the championship being held at the top remaining seed May 6.
