New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz concluded a successful second annual Hawks Giving Challenge week with more than $50,000 raised between all 17 varsity programs.
The final tally was recorded at $54,088.19 as of midnight May 1. The top teams that raised the most funds included men's basketball, men's soccer, swimming, men's volleyball and field hockey. The Hawks men's soccer team also had the most donor participation with 64 gifts, followed by swimming (61), field hockey (60), women's soccer (57) and women's volleyball (51) to round out the top-five.
"Thanks to all of our supporters for showing up and showing out during our second annual Hawks Challenge," said SUNY New Paltz Director of Athletics, Wellness and Recreation Renee Bostic. "Your contributions will directly affect the experience of our student-athletes in a positive way. This was a great effort by our whole Hawks athletic department, student-athletes, coaches and administrators."
All donation efforts will go directly to enhancing the student-athlete experience at SUNY New Paltz. Throughout the week, each team came up with creative ways to push donor support including several Instagram Reels and TikTok's, which generated more than 15,000 views combined throughout the week of giving. The result was evident, as the Hawks more than doubled their total from last year. The hope is to increase engagement and giving further in years to come.
