Potsdam, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz cruised to a 3-0 sweep of SUNY Potsdam Friday, 25-19, 25-15, 25-10.
The Hawks (10-2 overall, 3-1 SUNYAC) held an advantage in every statistical category over the Bears, scoring more points (62-24), registering more kills (47-17), aces (10-4), blocks (5-3), assists (45-16), digs (47-27) and a higher hitting percentage (.314-.023) than the Bears.
Makenzie Bills led the way offensively with 11 kills, followed by
Mackenzie Williams with 10 kills and
Victoria Konicki with nine.
Nicole Kleinegger also had a productive night, registering seven kills on nine attempts to hit .778 and finishing with 8.5 points in the match.
Mia Waddell, along with totaling a team-high 14 digs added a team-high three aces, with
Haylee Scarincio and
Kayleigh Emanuelson also adding three aces each.
Cate DiGiacomo was the facilitator, finishing with a game-best six assists.
SUNY New Paltz had its most efficient offensive night among SUNYAC opponents Friday against Potsdam, after connecting on 47 kills in 102 attempts. Its 47 kills were a season-high in a three-set match thus far this year.
The win brought the Hawks to third in the SUNYAC standings, only behind SUNY Cortland (4-0) and The College at Brockport (3-1). SUNY New Paltz hopes to up its win total Saturday, when it visits Plattsburgh State for a 1 p.m. match.
