Syracuse, NY — A historic weekend continued into Monday for State University of New York at New Paltz senior attackman
Thomas Armetta, as the West Islip, NY native was named to his first ever SUNYAC Offensive Athlete of the Week award, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Armetta joins teammates
Ryan Steinhart and
Ryan Scully as the only members of the Hawks men's lacrosse program to earn weekly honors since the program's inception in 2020.
Armetta was the catalyst in helping SUNY New Paltz to a 14-12 win over Potsdam Saturday — the first over the Bears in its young history. Armetta led the team offensive with five points on two goals and three assists, while also notching his 100th career point on an afternoon where the Hawks honored Armetta and the rest of his senior class. Along with his offensive numbers, Armetta contributed one ground ball and a caused turnover — which resulted in a first-half goal — en route to the team's second SUNYAC victory of the season, surpassing a season-most and keeping SUNY New Paltz's first postseason berth hopes alive.
