New Paltz, N.Y — The State University of New York at New Paltz women's lacrosse team released its schedule for the upcoming 2024 season Tuesday.
After a historic season, setting the new program record for wins (9) as well as securing back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time ever, the Hawks will look to improve upon last season in their pursuit of a SUNYAC Championship.
SUNY New Paltz will begin its season with three-straight road games. The first in Utica, N.Y. where the Hawks will meet the Pioneers as they look to reverse the results from last season. A few days later, the team will make their way to face off against the Hawks of Hartwick College. Lastly, SUNY New Paltz will travel to Newburgh to play Mount Saint Mary College looking to repeat the results from the 2023 season that saw the Hawks come away with a convincing 18-2 win.
SUNY New Paltz will host Kean University in its home-opener. It then hits the road once more to face St. Joseph's College Long Island before hosting five home games in a row. Last season, SUNY New Paltz bested the Golden Eagles by a score of 15-9, as rising senior Kaitlin Shaw put seven past them and will look to improve on her own individual numbers this time around.
Returning to New Paltz, the Hawks welcome SUNY Maritime and Manhattanville College. The team will look to secure big wins against both schools in order to gain momentum and confidence as SUNYAC play commences.
Buffalo State is the first SUNYAC opponent SUNY New Paltz will face. The Hawks host the Bengals and are eager to keep history on their side, looking to defeat Buffalo State for the third year running. A week later, the Golden Eagles of SUNY Brockport will make their way to New Paltz. The Hawks came up short against SUNY Brockport in 2023 but will be looking to turn the tides in this season's meeting.

Back-to-back road trips will see them head North to Plattsburgh State and then out West to Fredonia. SUNY New Paltz got the better of the Cardinals last season thanks to a go-ahead goal by sophomore Morgan Atwater in the final minutes of play. The team made quick work of the Blue Devils in a comfortable 11-3 victory.
After returning from Fredonia, the team host the Bears of SUNY Potsdam and the Lakers of Oswego State. Oswego will prove to be a good test for the Hawks after having lost the past two matchups. However, the biggest tests are yet to come.
In their next two games, the Hawks will travel to SUNY Cortland and SUNY Geneseo. Last season, the Red Dragons secured the No. 1 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament after recording a perfect 9-0 record in conference play. Despite Cortland's impressive run in 2023, the Knights were the ones that came away with the SUNYAC Championship and will be favorites to repeat in 2024.
The final game of SUNY New Paltz's regular season comes against SUNY Oneonta. In 2023, the Hawks defeated the Red Dragon off the back of junior Alyssa Indelicato's overtime game-winner which clinched the Hawks the fifth seed in the SUNYAC Tournament.
The quarterfinal round of the SUNYAC Tournament will be played on April 27. The semifinals will be on May 1, and the SUNYAC Championship game will be played May 4.
