New Paltz, NY — Each week, student intern Jackie Arriaga takes a look back at some of the most stand-out statistical numbers the Hawks had throughout the spring.
Take a look at some standouts below:
21: The number of caused turnovers women's lacrosse forced in their 17-6 home opening win over Utica Tuesday. Graduate defender
Morgan Woolley led the way with a game-high six.
200: The number of career goals reached by
Kaitlyn Shaw for the women's lacrosse team, making her the only player in program history to surpass the milestone. Shaw tallied six goals, three draw controls and two ground balls to lead the team's offense throughout the 19-3 win over Manhattanville Saturday.
3: The number of consecutive wins for the men's volleyball team have to start the United Volleyball Conference season, improving to 3-0 in conference play with a 3-0 victory over UVC rival MIT and a 3-2 win over No. 10 Wentworth Saturday.
44: The number of assists recorded by
Matt Marusza for the men's volleyball team on Saturday in the 3-2 win over Wentworth. He also contributed eight digs, one ace and one kill to contribute to the victory.
7: The number of runs scored by the baseball team in their big fourth inning of Game 2 against Centenary University. The inning included a grand slam by Garrett Garthwohl, a three-run home run by
Michael Ascanio, and multiple key hits from
Robert Gregory,
Xavier Zykoff, and
Nico Batkay that helped the Hawks secure a 23-8 win.
8: The number of season-high points scored by
Lexi Atwater for the women's lacrosse team's against their 19-3 win over Manhattanville on Saturday. She scored six goals and added two assists, tying for the second-most points in a single game in program history and leading the Hawks to victory.
14: The number of faceoff wins by the men's lacrosse team in their 11-6 win over Mount Saint Mary's College on Wednesday. The Hawks' faceoff dominance, led by freshman
Ryan O'Hara who went 12-for-17 on the day, helped the team control possession, allowing them to out-shoot the Knights 49-22 and gather 38 ground balls to 27, which contributed to their first victory of the season.
