POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The State University of New York at New Paltz cross country team(s) were in action today for their second meet of the fall campaign at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational hosted by Vassar College. The men ran 6k and the women 5k at the Vassar Farm course. The men came in sixth out of eight teams. The women finished sixth out of nine teams.
Oliver Melara-Perez led the men's team with a seventeenth place finish and a new personal best time of 19:50.7. Anthony Willis finished in sixty-eighth place with a new personal best time of 21:32.3. Evan Miller and Corbin Smith followed in sixty-ninth and seventy-third place(s) with time(s) of 21:34.0 and 21:45.4 respectively. Aiden Hesseltine rounded out the Hawks' scoring five in seventy-sixth place with a new personal best time of 21:59.4. Joe Palazzolo and Brandon Gardner finished as the Hawks' displacers in eighty-second and eighty-seventh place(s) with times of 22:46.0, a new personal best, and 23:47.5 respectively.
Hunter Larson finished thirty-fourth overall to lead the Hawks in a new personal best time of 20:52.5. Orquidea Briceno finished next for the Hawks in thirty-ninth place in a time of 21:15.1. Lillian Stephenson followed in forty-first place with a time of 21:18.7. Kate Turner and Alexandra Swink finished in sixty-first and sixty-fourth place(s) with times of 22:28.4 and 22:47.5, a new personal best, respectively to close out the scoring five for the Hawks. Ava Nargentino and Adelyn Ameigh-Coggen finished as the Hawks displacers in forty-second and forty-sixth place(s) and times of 23:18.7, a new personal best, and 23:39.4 respectively.
Oliver Melara-Perez earned a top 20 award by virtue of his seventeenth place finish.
The cross country team(s) return to action next weekend on Saturday September 20 for the Fred Pavlich Invitational hosted by Bard College at Historic Montgomery Place in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
