ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The State University of New York at New Paltz cross country team(s) were in action today at the Fred Pavlich Invitational hosted by Bard College. The women ran 6k and the men 8k at Historic Montgomery Place. The men came in second out of nine teams. The women finished second out of six teams.
Oliver Melara-Perez led the men's team with a first place, with a wire to wire finish, and a time of 26:43.9. Evan Miller finished in fifth place with a time of 27:52.3. Corbin Smith and Anthony Willis followed in ninth and fifteenth place(s) with time(s) of 28:39.9 and 29:21.8 respectively. Willis earned a new personal best with his time. Mike Harbord rounded out the Hawks' scoring five in sixteenth place with a time of 29:31.8. Joe Palazzolo and Aiden Hesseltine finished as the Hawks' displacers in twenty-second and twenty-ninth place(s) with times of 29:53.5 and 30:46.1 respectively.
Orquidea Briceno finished second overall to lead the Hawks in a time of 24:58.3. Hunter Larson finished next for the Hawks in third place with a time of 25:07.1. Lillian Stephenson followed in seventh place with a time of 25:49.5. Kate Turner and Ava Nargentino finished in eleventh and seventeenth place(s) with times of 26:36.4 and 27:27.8 respectively to close out the scoring five for the Hawks. Nargentino's time earned a new personal best. Juliana Vanorden and Adelyn Ameigh-Coggen finished as the Hawks displacers in twenty-third and twenty-fourth place(s) and times of 28:05.4 and 28:17.9 respectively.
The cross country team(s) have next weekend off before returning to action on Friday October 3 for the Asics Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, PA.
