NEW PALTZ, NY - Brooke Rosenberg of the SUNY New Paltz women's cross-country team has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Rookie of the Week, becoming the first female Hawk to earn a weekly honor from the conference.
Rosenberg made history following an impressive collegiate debut, becoming the first female SUNY New Paltz student-athlete to receive NJAC Rookie of the Week recognition as the Hawks begin their inaugural season competing in the conference.
The Hawks opened their 2026 campaign at the Fred Pavlich Invitational, hosted by Bard College at Montgomery Place. Both the men's and women's teams competed in the 5K, with the New Paltz women placing fourth among 11 teams.
Rosenberg impressed in her first collegiate race, finishing as the third Hawk across the line with a time of 22:51.5 to place 31st overall.
Rosenberg and the Hawks return to action Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Ron Stonitsch Invitational, hosted by Vassar College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
