NEW PALTZ, NY – The State University of New York New Paltz men's soccer team earned regional recognition Tuesday, coming in at No. 6 in the first United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Region IV rankings of the 2026 season. 

The Hawks enter the week with a 3-1-1 overall record after a strong start to their 2026 campaign. SUNY New Paltz opened the season with a 2-2 road draw against St. Joseph's University Long Island before rattling off three consecutive victories, defeating SUNY Delhi, 3-1, Bryant & Stratton Rochester, 5-1, and Purchase College, 7-0. 

SUNY New Paltz suffered its first setback of the season Saturday in a tightly contested 2-1 road loss against nationally ranked No. 17 University of Scranton. The Hawks have outscored opponents 18-6 through their first five games of the season. 

SUNY New Paltz was one of four NJAC programs included in the Region IV top eight, joining No. 1 Rowan University and No. 3 Rutgers University-Newark. The Hawks were followed by fellow conference member The College of New Jersey at No. 7. 

The Hawks return home Wednesday when they host Hudson Valley rival Vassar College at South Turf Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
