SUNY New Paltz Athletics

In the Hawks’ two contests at the 2011 SUNYAC Baseball Championship Tournament, Briggs batted .429 (3-for-7). Opposite Brockport in an elimination game Friday afternoon, Briggs nearly pushed New Paltz to victory, going 3-for-4 with five RBI off a three-run home run and a two-run double. In addition, Briggs made a leaping catch in the seventh to rob Brockport of a home run. The Hawks lost, 6-1, to Cortland in their first game on Friday before being eliminated from the tournament with a 9-8 loss to Brockport later on in the afternoon. New Paltz finished the season at 20-19 overall (9-9 SUNYAC) and qualified for the SUNYAC Baseball Championship Tournament for the first time since 2001.
