Ames helped lead the Hawks to a 2-1 SUNYAC mark this week with home wins against The College at Brockport and SUNY Geneseo. The junior transfer from NCAA Division II St. Thomas Aquinas College scored a season-high 19 points off the bench against the Golden Eagles in just 16 minutes of play. Ames shot 8-of-14 from the field and grabbed seven boards and three steals, and at one point in the second half against Brockport, Ames scored eight straight points. Versus Geneseo, Ames notched nine points with five boards and two steals in 18 minutes off the bench. This week, including the contest at Cortland, Ames averaged 10.3 ppg and 5.3 rpg, all coming off the bench. For the season, Ames is tied for the team lead in scoring (8.9 ppg). New Paltz (6-5, 3-2 SUNYAC) hosts Trinity (Conn.) College on Tuesday, Jan. 13, in its final non-conference contest of the regular season.
