CORTLAND, N.Y. – With a 2-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) loss to SUNY Cortland (9-5-3, 5-3-1 SUNYAC) on the road Saturday afternoon, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team (6-8-3, 4-4-1 SUNYAC) settled for a No. 6 seed in the SUNYAC Championship Tournament.
The Hawks will face third-seeded Buffalo State at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, in Buffalo, N.Y., in a SUNYAC Tournament play-in game.
Cortland's Casey Reinhardt scored early, finding the back of the net from 12 yards out at the 8:06 mark. Kelly Knight was credited with an assist on the play. Reinhardt got involved with the Red Dragon offense again in the 55th minute, feeding a ball to Jackie De Luise. De Luise fought off a defender in the box and slipped a ball inside the left post to give Cortland a 2-0 lead.
New Paltz could not finish on scoring opportunities down the stretch and ended up succumbing to the Red Dragons.

Shelby Kondelka (Bloomingburg, N.Y.) tied for the game-high in shots with four, while senior defender
Brittany Bennett (Smithtown, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder
Sarah DeMarzo (Mahopac, N.Y.) unleashed three shots apiece.
Cortland outshot New Paltz, 24-13, and took five corner kicks to the Hawks' one.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, N.Y.) fared well in net despite facing 12 shots on target. She turned aside a match-high 10 shots and allowed just two goals. Pam Monnier and Dayna Moneta split time in between the pipes for the Red Dragons, combining for six stops.
With the win, Cortland locked up the No. 4 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and will host fifth-seeded SUNY Geneseo on Oct. 30 at 1 p.m.
New Paltz returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 28. The Hawks will travel to Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., to face Hudson Valley foe Bard College at 7 p.m.
