New Paltz, NY — College Sports Communicators (CSC, formally CoSida) announced its annual Academic All-District soccer teams Tuesday with the Hawks earning three selections from its men's and women's soccer programs.

Samuel Snider each nabbed their first CSC Academic All-District honor and with the accolade are automatically in consideration for the CSC Academic All-American Team, which is set to be announced Dec. 16 and Dec. 17 for the men and women, respectively.
All three Hawks were pivotal in their team's success this past fall, leading their programs to their fifth-straight postseason appearance.
Schmitz was a second-team All-SUNYAC select, named to her second-straight all-conference team after captaining SUNY New Paltz to a 7-4-6 finish and SUNYAC quarterfinal appearance. The Bohemia, NY native was one of five players for the Hawks to start all 17 games and finished the year leading the team in minutes played with 1,436, as the defensive midfielder also tallied two goals and two assists for six points on the season. A Biology major, Schmitz was a SUNYAC Academic Commissioner's List recipient and earned a spot on the Hawks Academic Honor Roll twice over her two years at SUNY New Paltz, while participating in community service events as a member of NPWS.
Wohlmut also was a second-team All-SUNYAC pick this past season for the Hawks, having a career year after leading the team defensively, which allowed less than a goal against per game this past season. The senior center back was also one of five players to start in all 17 games and finished fourth on the team in minutes played (1,307). An Early Childhood Education major, Wohlmut is a Chi Alpha Sigma Academic National Honor Society inductee, a two-time SUNYAC Commissioner's List recipient and a four-time Hawks Academic Honor Roll honoree. The Center Moriches, NY native, who also stars for the Hawks women's lacrosse team for the past three seasons, serves as a SAAC Executive Board member, and has volunteered at numerous community service events including the New Paltz Special Olympics and Women's in Sports Day for the last two years, along with volunteering in the New Paltz community's local church, teaching religion on Sunday's to fifth and sixth-grade school children.
Snider, a co-captain for the Hawks men's soccer program as a junior, solidified himself as one of the best defenders in the SUNYAC this past season after earning his first All-SUNYAC honor, landing on the third team. He helped captain his team to a 10-4-4 record and the No. 4 seed in the SUNYAC Tournament after starting in all 17 games played this past fall. The Oceanside, NY native manned left-back duties for SUNY New Paltz and tallied one assist while pacing his team in minutes played (1,420). An Elementary Education major, Snider is a two-time SUNYAC Commissioner's List recipient and four-time Hawks Academic Honor Roll honoree. He volunteered at the local Elting Book Fair, SAAC Special Olympics and local youth soccer clinic during his offseason.
As selected by the nations' sports communicators, the academic all-district award recognizes the country's top student-athletes for their combined performances both athletically and academically. The CSC recognizes honorees from four divisions across Division I, II, III and NAIA. To be considered, nominees must be recognized as one of the best in their respective conferences and must maintain a GPA of 3.5 or better. Less than five percent of student-athletes earned the prestigious honor last season across all sports and divisions.
