SUNY New Paltz Women’s Soccer Earns Five All-SUNYAC Selections

Kelleher and Baldinger named first-team; Wohlmut, Schmitz land second team honors; Weiner third-team pick

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced Thursday its annual All-SUNYAC women's soccer team with five SUNY New Paltz players selected to the all-star squad. This is the second time in Hawks women's soccer history that at least five players earned all-conference honors, which continues a streak of four-straight seasons with at least five selections as the Hawks have had five or more picks five times, which included in 2011.

The five picks are also the final SUNY New Paltz players to capture SUNYAC honors as after 39 years of SUNYAC competition, the Hawks will join the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) beginning with the 2026 season. From SUNY New Paltz's first two SUNYAC selections in 1986, Karen MacAllister and Debbie Moshier, the Hawks have had 70 players earn All-SUNYAC accolades with the most coming after the 2024 season with the team earning nine selections.

The 2025 Hawks posted their fifth consecutive winning season with an overall (7-3-6) and conference (3-1-5) record, both the longest streaks since its inception. SUNY New Paltz also earned its fifth straight trip to the SUNYAC tournament, another program achievement.

First-Team All-SUNYAC

Brooke Kelleher All-SUNYACBrooke Kelleher (senior/forward)
Smithtown, NY/Smithtown West HS

Kelleher bookended her career from SUNYAC Rookie of the Year recipient to First-Team All-SUNYAC, as she was just one of four forwards to land on the first-team list in 2025.

The Smithtown, NY native, after statistically having the best year of her career, nabs her fourth All-SUNYAC selection of her career, becoming only the third Hawk to achieve four-straight conference picks, joining elite company in arguably two of the best players to ever go through the program in former teammate Rachel Eisert (2021-24) and 2008 alumna Jennifer Anselmi (2005-08).

After three third team selections, Kelleher earned a spot on All-SUNYAC First Team for the first time in her career. She was just one of five players to start all 17 games for the Hawks, including all nine conference matchups, logging a career-high 1,275 minutes. She played 90 minutes in six different games on the year along with four times in SUNYAC play, including the Hawks' SUNYAC Quarterfinal game against Buffalo State Nov. 1.

Kelleher developed into one of the best forwards in the league and established herself as the team's best offensive weapon. She led SUNY New Paltz in goals and points and ranked 11th in the SUNYAC in the latter category.

In the regular season, Kelleher started 16 of 16 games, with 1,189 playing minutes. She led the Hawks with 14 points on five goals (two of which were game winners) and four assists.  In SUNYAC play, she started all nine conference games, with 700 minutes on the pitch, scoring two goals with two assists for six points.

She led the team with a goal and an assist over Canton, but maybe her most important goal came against Oneonta as her game-tier helped earn a point in the match to aid in a fifth seed standing in the postseason. Kelleher was named as a SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week selection Sept. 15 after adding an assist in a 1-1 tie against Montclair and a goal and an assist on the game-winner in a 5-0 rout over King's College earlier in the year.

A workhorse on the field, Kelleher always competed at 100 percent and because of her motor, was arguably the most dangerous when the other team has the ball with her ability to relentlessly press oppositions' back line. A savvy player, able to slot in on any of the Hawks' three forward spots in their 4-3-3 formation, even playing some time at the 10 for SUNY New Paltz, Kelleher has great vision with the ball at her feet and is smart with her runs forward. Her four assists on the year led the team and her 15 career assists is the third most for SUNY New Paltz all-time, which speaks to Kelleher's unselfishness and soccer I.Q. offensively to pick apart defenses.

She ends her collegiate career with 20 goals and 15 assists for 55 points, ranking fifth, second and fourth, respectively, all-time in program history in each category. Kelleher has never missed a game, appearing in all 72 matches in her four-year career with 62 starts and 4,377 minutes played, while adding seven game-winners. In postseason competition, Kelleher registered three goals and four assists.

Mia Baldinger All-SUNYACMia Baldinger (senior/midfield)
Massapequa, NY/Massapequa HS

Baldinger, a senior co-captain for the Hawks, was named to her second-straight All-SUNYAC honor, landing All-SUNYAC First Team following third team honors a year ago.

Baldinger was just one of five players for SUNY New Paltz to start all 17 games, including all nine regular season SUNYAC contests. She finished second on the team in points, only behind fellow first-teamer Kelleher, with 13, scoring five goals with three assists, while adding one game winner. In regular season SUNYAC action, she logged 698 minutes, scoring three goals with one assist for seven points.

She totaled a full 90 minutes six times throughout the season, including the team's quarterfinal game against Buffalo State, and played 75-plus minutes in every SUNYAC game except one. She earned SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week honors the week of Sept. 22 after wins over Farmingdale and RPI where she assisted on the game-winning goal and then scoring a banger in a 2-1 win over the Engineers.

The Massapequa, NY native has been a staple within the program since her freshman season in 2022, developing into one of the best midfielders in the league. Arguably the most athletic player on the Hawks roster, Baldinger has great vision, able to lay weighted balls over the top and through to SUNY New Paltz's attack. She also has one of the best services on the team, tasked with taking virtually all free kicks in the offensive half, along with corners.

She's a strong presence in the midfield and is key in the Hawks' attack with her innate ability to get dangerous balls in the box, while also having the technical skill to beat defenders 1-v-1. Baldinger also proved her ability to strike a ball from distance, and if given space, like against Morrisville and earlier in the year against RPI, can rip a shot 25-yards out that can paint the top corner for a highlight goal.

Throughout her four-year career, Baldinger started 57 of 72 games and totaled 4,674 minutes with 11 goals and 13 assists for 35 points, ranking tied for fourth in assists and top 10 in points on the team's all-time list. Baldinger registered seven points off two goals and three assists in postseason play throughout her career, including goals in her first playoff appearance in 2022 and her last this past fall.

Second-Team All-SUNYAC

Laney Schmitz All-SUNYACLaney Schmitz (senior/midfield)
Bohemia, NY/Connetqout HS)

Since transferring from Division I Marist College two years ago, Schmitz fit seamlessly within the Hawks program both on the field and off as she developed into a leader, named captain ahead of the 2025 season.

She finished her collegiate career with SUNY New Paltz with one of her best individual seasons, proving herself as one of the best midfielders in the conference as she secured her second consecutive All-SUNYAC honor, named to the second team for the second time.

One of five players to start all 17 games for the Hawks, including all 16 regular season and SUNYAC contests, the Bohemia, NY native led the team in minutes played with 1,436 minutes on the pitch including 737 in regular season conference play. Offensively, she added two goals and one assist with one assist against league competition, while totaling a team-high 55 shots on the year. Schmitz also tallied a team-most 10 90-minute games played, including five against SUNYAC competition during the regular season and another 90 minutes in SUNY New Paltz's quarterfinal match.

Another workhorse for the Hawks, Schmitz is a quintessential center midfielder. A gritty player, Schmitz was excellent at winning balls in the middle of the field, especially in the air. She had a fearless way of giving up her body in order to win the ball and was a crucial part of both SUNY New Paltz's offense and defense this past season. A hardworking defensive midfielder, Schmitz proved just as nifty offensively with the ability to creatively see runs ahead, playing well-weighted balls to the Hawks' front line either to feet or in space.

In her two seasons with SUNY New Paltz, Schmitz appeared in 36 games with 30 starts, totaling 2,529 minutes and adding three goals and three assists.

Sam Wohlmut All-SUNYACSam Wohlmut (senior/defense)
Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches HS

Working her way into the starting lineup in her final season with the Hawks, Wohlmut established herself as one of the league's top defenders. In a career season, Wohlmut earned her first All-SUNYAC honor, landing on the second team alongside just nine other defenders on the all-conference list, including six total on first and second team.

Defense was the key to SUNY New Paltz's 2025 success and Wohlmut was an integral part of it. Logging 678 minutes in regular season SUNYAC action, she was the catalyst of a Hawks defense that allowed 11 goals in 16 games for a .70 goals-against average, while shutting out opponents nine times and giving up 42 corners. In SUNYAC play, Wohlmut was a part of a defensive unit that yielded just five goals against for a .57 goals-against average with six shutouts.

The Center Moriches, NY native became the backbone of SUNY New Paltz's defense, starting all 17 games including all 16 regular season and nine conference contests. An excellent communicator in the back, her senior leadership was vital to the team defensively, especially through injuries for the Hawks throughout the year needing to switch up their backline with Wohlmut the main constant at her center back spot. Arguably her most impressive game came in a 0-0 draw on the road to Cortland, as she worked back to cover balls played through, able to break up dangerous plays in the defensive third and was excellent in containment, especially in her 1-v-1 defending. She saved a would-have-been goal at the start of SUNY New Paltz's regular season matchup against Buffalo State to aid in the eventual, 1-1 draw, and throughout the year was responsible in taking all of the Hawks' free kicks within their defensive half, having the ability to play good services in while making good decisions in finding feet in distribution as well.

The senior finished a career season with 1,307 minutes played, fourth most on the team, while registering 90 minutes of action six different times including three in SUNYAC play — all three of which were shutouts, including 0-0 ties against Oswego and Plattsburgh.

Wohlmut concludes her collegiate soccer career with nearly 2,000 minutes of action in 41 games played.

Third Team All-SUNYAC

Addison Weiner All-SUNYACAddison Weiner (senior/forward)
Smithtown, NY/Smithtown East HS

Weiner finished her career with the Hawks with her best individual season to-date, moved back to the forward line for SUNY New Paltz and became one of her team's top point getters in 2025 and as a result, earned her first All-SUNYAC selection, landing on the third team.

The Smithtown, NY native was just one of nine forwards named to the All-SUNYAC team, joining teammate Brooke Kelleher.

After moved to outside back the last two seasons, Weiner transitioned back to her natural spot at forward and produced five goals, which tied for most for the Hawks, with one assist to tally 11 points on the year, third most on the team.

Throughout her career, Weiner established herself as a tough player who competes hard every second she's on the field. She finds herself in the right place at the right times with most of her goals coming on effort plays that helped lift SUNY New Paltz offensively.

She scored goals in five different contests, including four in SUNYAC play. Arguably her biggest score came in a 1-1 draw to Buffalo State that helped SUNY New Paltz earn a result to keep their postseason hopes alive. She also put away insurance goals late against Potsdam and ended with a season-high three points in a 7-0 rout of Canton, tallying a goal and an assist in the win.

Weiner appeared in all 17 games for SUNY New Paltz with 11 starts, totaling 910 minutes on the pitch. She totaled 26 shots, 15 of which were on goal for a .577 shots-on-goal percentage, adding one game-winner which came in a 5-0 victory over King's College.

Weiner ends her collegiate career with 3,575 minutes in 70 games played with 29 starts, totaling nine goals and one assist and two game-winning goals.
