NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team (4-1, 3-0 SUNYAC) lost its first match of the year Friday afternoon in New Paltz, N.Y., falling to State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) nemesis SUNY Geneseo (5-0, 3-0 SUNYAC) by a count of 6-3. The match was counted as a non-conference contest.
Seniors
Stephanie Schara (Huntington, N.Y.) and
Lindsey Garyn (Melville, N.Y.) won at No. 1 doubles, 8-5, which prevented the Blue Knights from taking a 3-0 lead into singles play. Garyn, the lone Hawk to go undefeated in both doubles and singles on the day, downed Julia Passick, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 singles, while sophomore
Kayla DiPaulo (Liverpool, N.Y.) kept her perfect singles record intact with a thrilling 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 win at flight four.
