Box ScoreNEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team (6-7, 3-2 SUNYAC) qualified for the 2011 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Field Hockey Tournament on Saturday afternoon, blanking The College of Brockport (7-7, 2-4 SUNYAC), 4-0, in SUNYAC action at the Turf Field.
With its victory, New Paltz has now earned a bid to the SUNYAC Field Hockey Tournament in each of the two years the tournament has been held. The tournament will be hosted at SUNY Cortland on Friday, Nov. 4 and Saturday, Nov. 5, as the Red Dragons have locked up the first overall seed with their 6-0 conference record.

Lauren Link (Hauppauge, N.Y./Smithtown West) opened the scoring at 13:37, scoring off a penalty stroke. With the score at half remaining 1-0, New Paltz broke the game open early in the second stanza. At 40:39, Stock netted her first goal of the afternoon when she scored on a penalty corner, with passes from senior forward
Stacey Miller (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) and Link.
The New Paltz lead grew to 3-0 at 46:46, when freshman forward
Alex Gallo (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Hendrick Hudson) scored her first goal on the season, cashing in off a blocked shot. Stock finished the scoring at 61:13, when she again scored off a penalty corner, this time courtesy of a dish from freshman midfielder

The Hawks outshot the Golden Eagles, 22-9, with an impressive 17-5 margin of shots taken in the second half. New Paltz also earned 15 penalty corners, compared to Brockport's six, with the Hawks holding a 10-1 advantage in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Antonija Pjetri (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern) accumulated six saves in her scoreless effort, playing 64:36 prior to freshman
Lauren Brennan (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown East) seeing her first collegiate time in goal. Brennan saved one shot in her 5:24 of action. Brockport goalkeeper Kasey Schreiner took the loss, saving three shots while allowing three goals in 48:55 of play. She was spelled by Amanda DelBuono, who saved six shots in 21:05, allowing one goal.
The Hawks will begin the final road trip of their regular season Monday, Oct. 17, when they take on non-conference Rhodes College in a neutral-site matchup in Hartford, Conn., at Trinity College. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
