Senior outside hitter
Keith MacDonald (Monroe Township, N.J.) led the Hawks with a match-high 17 kills, while senior setter
Andrew Cassius (Brooklyn, N.Y.) handed out 44 assists. Stross boasted four block solos and four block assists, accounting for 21 total points. Junior defensive specialist/libero
Michael Dauernheim (Bay Shore, N.Y.) had 10 digs, and Stross boasted a match-high two service aces.
Ramapo received a nine-kill performance from Paul Konopacki, and Jeff Jones also keyed the attack with eight kills. Andrew Balint dished out 30 assists, and Kevin McNerney collected a match-high 13 digs. Colin McNeill was busy on the front row, landing one block solo and seven block assists.
New Paltz took the first set, 25-20, but Ramapo stormed back in the second stanza to knot the tally at 1-all heading into the third game. The Hawks had little trouble with the Roadrunners in the final two sets, winning by respective scores of 25-17 and 25-19.
New Paltz finishes out its United Volleyball Conference (UVC) schedule this weekend from Saturday through Sunday, March 5-6, at the second UVC Crossover, which is hosted by Vassar College across the Hudson River in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. The Hawks square off with No. 2 Nazareth College first on Saturday at 3 p.m.
