NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Seniors
Stephanie Schara (Huntington, N.Y.) and
Lindsey Garyn (Melville, N.Y.) were honored in a Senior Day ceremony before Saturday afternoon's non-league match against Union (N.Y.) College at the Lighted Tennis Courts, and the State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team (13-4) sent the two multiple-time All-Conference winners out with honor, as the Hawks dismantled the Dutchwomen (0-10), 9-0.
Schara and Garyn made quick work of Union at No. 1 doubles, 8-2, and the Hawks' No. 2 tandem of sophomores
Montana Wilson (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and
Kayla DiPaulo (Liverpool, N.Y.) and No. 3 pairing of sophomore
Alli Esposito (Bellmore, N.Y.) and freshman
Paige Munroe (Ann Arbor, Mich.) followed suit, as each won, 8-3.
Union gained more than three service points at just one position, as the Hawks eased past the Dutchwomen in singles. The most impressive performance of the afternoon came at flight four of singles, as DiPaulo topped her counterpart from Union, 6-0, 6-0.
New Paltz travels to Hoboken, N.J., on Wednesday, April 13, taking on the Stevens Institute of Technology at 3:30 p.m.
