Box Score
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Senior forward
Samantha Abravanel (Islip, N.Y./Islip) scored two goals and added an assist for a total of five points in the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team's (12-5-1, 4-4-1 SUNYAC) 7-0 non-conference win over The College at Old Westbury (9-10-0) on Wednesday at the Turf Field. With the assist and goals, Abravanel set new program records in single-season points, career assists and career points.
Abravanel has 26 points on the season, breaking Alesha Peimer's mark of 25 from the 1998 season. Her assist in the win gives her 14 for her career, surpassing the old mark of 13. With 26 points, Abravanel has 62 points over her tenure in the blue and orange, breaking the record of 61 set by senior forward
Shelby Kondelka (Bloomingburg, N.Y./Pine Bush) earlier this season. Abravanel also extended the single-season assists record, which she set on Oct. 19 in a 2-1 loss to Buffalo State, to eight. Her two goals give her nine on the season, leaving her two shy of the single-season mark and one short of the career record of 25.
Sophomore forward
Sarah Painter (Blue Point, N.Y./Bayport-Blue Point) and senior defender
Emily Rokitowski (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./Roy C. Ketchum) each scored their fifth and fourth goals of the season, respectively, in the first half. Sophomore midfielder

In addition to Abravanel, Painter, freshman midfielder
Kristina Gandolfo (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) and sophomore defender
Christine Lacaria (Watertown, Conn./Holy Cross) each picked up assists on the afternoon.
Senior goalkeeper
Stephanie Vega (Oceanside, N.Y./Baldwin Senior) needed just one save to earn her 10th win and eighth shutout of the season. Heather Grosso saved five shots for the Panthers, but allowed seven goals to take the loss.
New Paltz held a significant edge in shots, firing off 22 to Old Westbury's two, including a 13-1 advantage in shots on goal. The Hawks also picked up 10 corner kicks without allowing one for their opponents.
With the win, the Hawks snap a three-game losing streak and head into the State University of New York Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship Tournament with momentum. New Paltz faces an away quarterfinal matchup with third-seeded SUNY Fredonia on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m.
