EWING, N.J. – Sophomore
Paige Munroe (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) won flight three singles in a tiebreak, but the State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team (12-8) was unable to win at any other flights of doubles or singles play against No. 23 The College of New Jersey (13-1), as the host Lions prevailed, 8-1, on Saturday morning.
Munroe won the first set, 6-3, but fell, 6-2, in the second set. In a hard-fought tiebreak, she won 10-8 to help the Hawks avoid the shutout.
The closest match in the doubles competition came at flight two, as the tandem of junior
Kayla DiPaulo (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and freshman
Devin Tracy (Great River, N.Y./East Islip) lost to TCNJ's Karisse Bendijo and Alex Bologno, 8-4.
New Paltz returns to action on Friday, April 20, as it hosts non-conference Hunter College at 3:30 p.m. at the North Tennis Courts.
