ONEONTA, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team (3-0, 2-0 SUNYAC) had another successful match, defeating SUNY Oneonta (1-2, 0-2 SUNYAC), 7-2, in day two of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) East Division pool play held at Oneonta.

Seniors Montana Wilson (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) and Kayla DiPaulo (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) lost their first doubles match of the season to Danielle Browarski and Lauren Skolnick, 9-8 (7-4), at flight one. Junior Paige Munroe (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) and sophomore Devin Tracy (Great River, N.Y./East Islip) stayed hot at No. 2 doubles, beating Emily Maggiore and Collette Lankowicz, 8-4. At No. 3, senior Alli Esposito (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) and sophomore Jessica Schmidt (Commack, N.Y./Commack) also stayed undefeated at No. 3, winning 8-3 over Brynn Sussman and Abigail Smith.

Wilson defeated Browarski, 6-4, 6-3, at No. 1, but DiPaulo lost her first match at No. 2, 4-6, 6-1, 8-10, to Sussman. Munroe won both sets in the No. 3 match by a score of 6-2 against Skolnick. At No. 4, Esposito dropped Maggiore 6-1, 6-4. Schmidt won her No. 5 match against Lankowicz in three sets, 7-5, 2-6, 10-7. Freshman Laura Tierney (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) wrapped up the singles matches at No. 6 with a victory over Smith, 6-1, 6-0.

SUNYAC East pool play concludes Sunday, Sept. 9, with New Paltz taking SUNY Plattsburgh (4-0, 2-0 SUNYAC). The final match of the weekend for the Hawks is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
