Women’s Swimming Places Sixth at Tampa Relay Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team ranked sixth out of seven teams at the Tampa Relay Invitational on Saturday, achieving 26 points. A total of 10 different relays were contested at the invitational: the 800 freestyle relay, the 300 backstroke relay, the 300 breaststroke relay, the 300 butterfly relay, the 500 freestyle crescendo relay, the 400 medley relay, the 200 freestyle relay, the 498 SNARF relay, the 400 IM relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

The Hawks' highest finish of fifth came in two relays: the 800 freestyle relay and the 498 SNARF relay. The foursome of junior Victoria Scalise (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), freshman Cassidy Griger (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown Central), sophomore Kat Buyes (Wappingers Falls, N.Y./John Jay) and junior Chelsea Allocco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) clocked a time of 8:14.97 in the 800 freestyle relay, while the threesome of Allocco, Griger and Scalise charted a 5:42.75 in the 498 SNARF relay.

New Paltz returns to action from Jan. 11-12, as it competes in a tri-meet with the Rochester Institute of Technology and SUNY Geneseo in Rochester, N.Y.
