Oswego StatsNEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz field hockey team wraps up State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on the road on Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26, facing SUNY Cortland on Friday at 4 p.m. before squaring off with SUNY Oswego on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Records: The Hawks enter this weekend with a 9-6 overall record and a 3-1 mark in SUNYAC competition. Cortland sits at 9-2 overall (4-0 SUNYAC), while Oswego is 3-7 overall (1-3 SUNYAC). Cortland is the lone team without a loss in SUNYAC play and sits atop the conference standings. Oswego is tied with The College at Brockport for fifth in the SUNYAC standings.
Scouting the Hawks: Senior forward
Danielle Conklin has enjoyed a record-breaking season so far for New Paltz… Conklin leads the SUNYAC in goals (19) and points (46), and she ranks 11th in NCAA Division III in both goals per game (1.27) and points per game (3.07)… She also has broken the program's single-season marks in goals and points, and she is tied for the career program record for assists (19)… Conklin earned SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week honors most recently for the week ending Oct. 13, 2013, and she has earned that distinction twice on the season… New Paltz's prolific offense has netted it some national acclaim, as the team is averaging 4.33 goals per game… That is the 10th-highest per-game total this year in Division III… New Paltz, which has not competed in a SUNYAC game since Oct. 2, has clinched a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament since it last took the field in a conference contest… The Hawks can finish no lower than fourth in the final regular-season standings, and with a win on Friday, New Paltz will lock up at least the No. 3 seed.
Scouting the Red Dragons: Cortland boasts the highest-scoring offense in NCAA Division III, as the Red Dragons are burying an average of 5.36 goals per game… Freshman forward Gabrielle Stein is the lynchpin of Cortland's attack, as she ranks sixth in Division III in goals per game (1.45)… Cortland is ranked at No. 16 in the most recent Penn Monto/NFHCA Division III National Coaches Poll… The Red Dragons extended their winning streak to six on Saturday, as they edged SUNY Geneseo, 3-2, in Geneseo, N.Y… Sophomore defender Amber Czaja, who was named the SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20, 2013, scored the game-winning goal with time expired… Sophomore midfielder Jillian Vogl ranks second in the SUNYAC in assists per game (9)… With a win against New Paltz on Friday, Cortland locks up the No. 1 seed into the SUNYAC Field Hockey Tournament.

(Box Score): New Paltz earned its first-ever win over Cortland in the biggest of moments on Nov. 3, 2012, as the Hawks prevailed, 2-1, after two overtimes and a shootout in the SUNYAC Championship final at the Turf Field… Then junior goalkeeper
Antonija Pjetri stopped every shot she faced in the shootout, and the Hawks picked up their first conference title… Graduated senior Danielle Groneman put the Red Dragons on the board after a penalty corner as time expired in the first half, but then sophomore
Deirdre O'Neill netted the equalizer at 50:21… Neither team as able to score throughout the remainder of regulation, and both teams were held scoreless in overtime to set up the dramatic finish.
Scouting the Lakers: Oswego is 3-3 in its last six games, which includes victories over Nazareth College, Elmira College and Wells College… Most recently, the Lakers downed Nazareth, 2-0, in a rain-soaked contest at Laker South Athletic Field... Oswego scored one goal in each period, with senior defender Ashley Collins being a part of both scoring situations... Senior midfielder Rachel Johnston found the back of the goal with less than eight minutes to play in the first half, using a Collins pass that went through the middle of the defense... Collins tacked on an insurance score in the 64th minute, cashing in on a feed from senior forward Ashley Fiorille off a penalty corner.
