NEW YORK – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team placed third out of three teams at the NYU Invitational Saturday, finishing the two-day meet with 119 points. Host New York University pulled away on Saturday to win with 396 points, while the Stevens Institute of Technology took second with 277 points.
New Paltz returns to dual-meet action on Saturday, Nov. 16, as it hosts SUNY Oswego at 1 p.m. in its final home meet of the fall semester.
Pitted against two of the top teams in NCAA Division III, New Paltz gained valuable experience racing in a prelim-final format against many swimmers who will qualify for the NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships.

Kim Kallansrude (Muttontown, N.Y./Jericho) and sophomore
Maggie Heaton (New Milford, Conn./New Milford) each placed among the top five in at least one event. Allocco took third in the 400 individual medley (4:50.68) and fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:21.13), Griger placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:00.23) and fifth in the 100 freestyle (56.01), Kallansrude claimed third in the 200 butterfly (2:18.26) and Heaton finished fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:02.89).
