SHENANDOAH, Texas – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team wrapped up day one of competition at the 2013 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) and the City of Shenandoah at the Conroe ISD Natatorium on Wednesday. The Hawks did not advance any swimmers or relays on to the final heats and finished day one with no team score.
Junior
Chelsea Allocco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) kicked off the meet for New Paltz by placing 28th in the 500 freestyle (5:04.17). Senior
Yuka Suzuka (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) also swam on Wednesday, clocking a 35th-place time of 2:11.20 in the 200 individual medley.
Finally, the 200 medley relay squad of Suzuka, sophomore
Colleen Stewart (Shelton, Conn./Shelton), senior
Carly Marshall (Cornwall, N.Y./Cornwall Central) and junior
Victoria Scalise (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) narrowly missed out on qualifying for the consolation finals with a 17th-place standard of 1:47.33.
New Paltz continues action at the NCAA Championships from Thursday, March 21, through Saturday, March 23. The preliminary heats are slated for 11 a.m. EDT, with the final heats to follow at 7 p.m. EDT.
