Meet ResultsNEW YORK – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team wrapped up day one at the NYU Invitational on Friday night in Manhattan ranked third out of four teams with 191 points.
Host New York University leads the team standings with 308 points, followed by the Stevens Institute of Technology (233 points). Arcadia University is fourth with 104 points.
New Paltz finishes action at the meet tomorrow at 10 a.m.
The Hawks' strongest performance of the evening came in the 200 freestyle relay, as the foursome of freshman
Megan Joseph (Hauppauge, N.Y./Hauppauge), freshman
Molly McCulloch (Rome, N.Y./Holland Patent), junior
Krista VerMeersch (Newark, N.Y./Newark) and junior
Cassidy Griger (Cooperstown, N.Y./Cooperstown) finished second with a time of 1:40.41.
Griger and McCulloch each boasted a fifth-place finish for New Paltz, with Griger's coming in the 500 freestyle (5:22.41) and McCulloch's coming in the 50 freestyle (25.32). Senior
Samantha Granan (Hyde Park, N.Y./Franklin D. Roosevelt) tied for seventh in the 200 individual medley (2:18.67), while VerMeersch tied for 10th in the 50 freestyle (25.90).
