Meet ResultsBUFFALO – Senior
Chelsea Allocco (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) of the State University of New York at New Paltz women's swimming team became the fifth student-athlete in program history to earn the State University of New York Athletic Conference's (SUNYAC) Grace Mowatt Award and the third in as many years on Saturday at conclusion of the 2014 SUNYAC Swimming & Diving Championships hosted at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Aquatic Center.
The Grace Mowatt Award is given annually to a senior female swimmer/diver based on the following criteria: All-America honors, All-SUNYAC honors, improvement throughout collegiate career and academic achievement.
Allocco, who finished her SUNYAC Championship career with eight individual titles—four in the 400 individual medley and four in the 1,650 freestyle—and two conference overall records, joins Jessica DiFabio (1998-99), Joanna Masterson (2005-06), Christine Rieth (2011-12) and
Yuka Suzuka (2012-13) as the Hawks' other Grace Mowatt Award winners.
New Paltz finished the meet in third place out of nine teams with 472 points. SUNY Geneseo earned its 22nd SUNYAC title with a first-place total of 880 points, while SUNY Cortland took second with 573 points. Allocco, who earned three NCAA "B" cuts throughout the course of the weekend, won her fourth 1,650 freestyle conference title in as many years, as she clocked an NCAA "B" cut time of 17:11.12. During that race, she reset her own program record of 10:24.89 in the 1,000 freestyle that she set last year with a 10:24.53.
