New Paltz ended up going 0-2 for the day, losing to William Smith College, 8-1, before falling to Grinnell, 5-4.
New Paltz drops to 8-6 overall and matches up with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. William Smith rises to 4-1 and next takes on Grinnell on Thursday, March 20, at 11 a.m., while Grinnell rises to 13-4 overall and faces Oglethorpe University tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Paige Munroe (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Pioneer) was the Hawks' lone winner against William Smith, winning, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. Junior
Jessica Schmidt (Commack, N.Y./Commack) lost a heartbreaker at flight three of singles, forcing a tiebreak with a 6-4 victory in the second set before falling, 11-9, in the deciding frame.
Grinnell 5, New Paltz 4 A severe storm that included a tornado watch halted the Hawks' match against Grinnell on Monday afternoon, and play resumed Tuesday evening after breaking for a few hours following their contest against William Smith.
Grinnell's strong showing in doubles and its elite play at the top two singles positions trumped New Paltz's depth in a battle between two evenly-matched foes.
Grinnell wound up winning flights one and two of doubles by scores of 8-0 and 8-2, respectively, and a 9-8 victory in the third flight ended up being the difference in the match.
Freshman Elizabeth Palmer (Woodstock, N.Y./Cazenovia) entered singles play on Tuesday with a 6-1 victory already in hand at flight six, as Grinnell's entrant at that position retired due to injury. Schmidt and freshman

Grinnell, however, locked up the win with two decisive victories at flights one and two of singles. Junior Shirlene Luk won, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1, while senior Sadhana Athreya prevailed, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2.
