CORTLAND, N.Y. –
In the first match of State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Eastern Division Pool Play, the State University of New York at New Paltz defeated SUNY Cortland 9-0 on Friday afternoon at Cortland's Varsity Tennis Courts.
The Hawks (2-0) will play SUNY Oneonta tomorrow at 10 a.m. while Cortland (0-2) takes on SUNY Plattsburgh at 1 p.m.

Brittany Grandville (Tappan, N.Y./Tappan Zee) defeated the Red Dragons at number three, 8-2.
Ammirati was victorious at flight one singles, winning 6-2, 6-1. Grandville defeated her foe at number two singles, 6-0, 6-1 and Schmidt disposed of her opponent in a tight flight three match, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Freshman
Carol Tyson (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Rhinebeck) won at flight four singles, 6-0, 6-1. O'Brien took flight five, 6-3, 6-2 and junior
Laura Tierney (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 number six victory.
