BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team knocked off SUNY Fredonia, 5-0, in the quarterfinal round of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Tournament on Friday afternoon at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Hawks move to 5-2 overall and will compete against No. 2 SUNYAC West team The College at Brockport in the semifinals tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Fredonia drops to 6-5 and will face SUNY Cortland in a consolation match tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
The sophomore tandem of
Brittany Grandville (Tappan, N.Y./Tappan Zee) and
Carol Tyson (Clinton Corners, N.Y./Rhinebeck) swept No. 1 doubles play, 8-0, against freshman Olivia Miller and sophomore Chloe Karnisky. Senior co-captain
Laura Tierney (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) and junior
Olivia Ammirati (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) defeated juniors Chloe Cohen and Halee Dickinson, 8-1, at flight two.

Lindsay Haley (Hicksville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) earned an 8-1 victory over juniors Leanne Hofstead and Phoebe Langdon in flight three.
Grandville went 6-0, 6-0, at flight two singles with Tyson earning a 6-0, 6-1, win at flight three to clinch the match win for New Paltz.
