New Paltz's highlight of the day came during the first event of the evening finals session, as the "A" 200 freestyle relay team of junior
Austin Kowalsky (Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham), sophomore
Caleb Treadwell (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and seniors
Ethan Cooke (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) and
Will Koenig (Highland, Calif./Redlands East Valley) charted a fifth-place time of 1:24.46 that edged the program record in the event. Treadwell,
Brandon Finn,
Rod Taskindoust and Koenig established the previous program standard of 1:24.51 at last year's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships.
Action at the meet concludes tomorrow, with the preliminary heats beginning at 10:30 a.m. and finals commencing at 6 p.m.
Six Hawks scored points in the 200 butterfly, led by junior
Rob Cahn (Bellmore, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) and Cooke, who placed 17th (2:00.05) and 19th (2:02.33), respectively. Sophomore

In the 200 freestyle, freshman
Rory Neal (Bayonne, N.J./Bayonne) boasted New Paltz's top finish (25th, 1:50.32), while sophomore
Barrett Celecki (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) placed 30th (1:51.63).
The 100 breaststroke yielded six Hawk scorers, which included a 14th-place 59.87 out of senior
Ryan Lindgren (Hurley, N.Y./Kingston). Junior
Vitaut Gurskiy (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) also competed in the "B" final, placing 19th (1:01.27), while sophomore
Colin Duell (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) and junior
Matt Alfultis (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) placed 2-3 in the "C" final to finish 21st (1:00.76) and 22nd (1:00.85), respectively. Sophomore

Tom Anderson (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) also scored points for New Paltz in the event, ranking 26th (1:04.43) and 29th (1:07.11), respectively.

Yakhya Toure (Brooklyn, N.Y./International High School at Prospect Heights) paced New Paltz in the 100 backstroke, with Piliero taking 21st (56.18) and Toure placing 24th (56.37).

Kevin Sales (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East), Plante and junior
Nolan Graziano (Rhinebeck, N.Y./Rhinebeck) finished 17th (4:36.60), 18th (4:37.40) and 19th (4:38.02), in the 400 individual medley, respectively, while junior
Thomas Whittico (East Lyme, Conn./East Lyme) won the "C" final of the event in 4:33.45 to rank 21st overall.
Five New Paltz sprinters scored in the final individual event of the day, the 50 freestyle. Koenig covered the race in 21.51 to place 12th, while Treadwell touched shortly behind him at 21.99 to finish 16th. Kowalsky (22nd, 22.29), Lindgren (27th, 22.94) and Zenir (tied for 28th, 22.97) also scored points for New Paltz in the event.
In the final event of the evening, the Hawks' "A" 400 medley relay quartet of Treadwell, Lindgren, Cooke and Koenig placed 14th with a time of 3:35.94.
After two days at the meet, host MIT leads with 929.5 points, while New York University and Tufts University are second and third with 706 and 488 points, respectively.
