Buffalo, NY – The
SUNY New
Paltz Swim program competed in day two of the
SUNYAC Championship. The teams competed in the 500-yard free style, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle relay and the 1 meter-men's diving.
Antonio Vavalle earned silver for the Hawks after placing second in the men's 500-yard freestyle. Vavalle touched the wall with a time of 4:42.37, out touching the bronze medal finisher from Pitt Bradford by .30
thof a second. Vavalle picked up 17 points for the Hawks.
Alex Gorzula touched third in the men's 200-yard individual medley adding 16 points to the board. Gorzula earned the bronze medal finish with a time of 1:54.87.
Deniz Gurcan collected a couple of points for the men, finishing 15
th with a time of 2:03.67.
Erin Donovan touched 12
th for the women, earning 5 points with a time of 2:20.24 in the 200-yard individual medley.
Jack Samko earned bronze in the men's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.24. Samko out touched Cortland by .06
th of a second for the podium finish and 16 points.
Alexis Egbert touched 11
th for the women in the 50, with a time of 25.75, earning 6 points.
The men's team of
Hayden Brock,
Nicholas Ahlborn, Vavalle and Samko touched sixth in the men's 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.26, earning 26 points.
The women's team of
Brianna Law,
Jade Fontanez,
Jayme Fink and Donovan touched seventh with a time of 1:49.56, earning 24 points for the Hawks.
After day two of the competition the women sit in sixth place with 95 points and the men are in sixth place with 135 points. Prelims start at 10 a.m. on Friday in the Burt
Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY.
