Buffalo, NY – The SUNY New Paltz Swim program competed in day one of the SUNYAC Championship. The teams competed in the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team will return to Erie Community College tomorrow morning for preliminaries, set to start at 10 a.m.
The men led off the meet with a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay.
Alex Gorzula,
Deniz Gurcan,
Jack Samko and
Nicholas Ahlborn touched the wall with a time of 1:39.79. The women's team of
Jaina Bischof,
Erin Donovan,
Alexis Egbert and
Brianna Law also touched sixth. The women earned the top eight finished with a time of 1:59.15.
The men earned fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team of Gorzula,
Hayden Brock, Gurcan and
Antonio Vavalle touched the wall with a time of 7:18.41, out touching Oneonta by 10 seconds. The women's team of
Sophia Bucci,
Jayme Fink, Donovan and Egbert touched sixth with a time of 8:33.00.
After day one of the competition the women are in sixth place with 56 points, and the men are in seventh place with 56 points. Prelims start at 10 a.m. in the Burt Flickinger Center on the campus of Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY.
