NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team will face St. Lawrence University on Saturday, April 18 at 9 a.m.
RECORDS: New Paltz enters the weekend with a record of 11-6... The Saints are currently 13-3 overall.
SCOUTING NEW PALTZ (11-6): The Hawks defeated Ithaca College 7-2 on April 3 at Wheeler Tennis Courts… New Paltz went 4-2 in singles and won every doubles contest… Senior duo

Jessica Schmidt won flight one, 9-8… Freshman combination
Brittany Grandville and
Carol Tyson defeated Ithaca 8-5 in flight two… Sophomore
Olivia Ammirati and junior
Laura Tierney combined for an 8-5 victory in flight three… At flight two singles, Grandville earned a tough-fought victory 2-6, 6-1, 10-6. Tyson picked up the flight three win, 6-4, 6-2… Tierney earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in flight five and Tracy enjoyed a 6-0, 6-4 flight six victory in her first singles action of the year… Tyson leads the SUNYAC in all singles with an 11-0 record and Tierney holds the number two spot with a 7-0 record… Two pairs of doubles are tied for the number one spot in all doubles in the SUNYAC; Ammirati and Grandville are 3-0, along with
Jessica Schmidt and
Allie Starke who are also 3-0.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE (13-3): The Saints improved to 13-3 overall after defeating William Smith 8-1 on April 12… St. Lawrence saw victories across the board for their three doubles pairings… Senior Elkie Vandenbeemt and junior Morgan McNeal won 8-6… Freshman Emily Wyman and senior Anna Young won 8-5… Senior Samantha Miller and sophomore Georgia Comber saw an 8-2 victory… Vandenbeemt, Wyman, Comber and Miller each also won their singles match that day… Senior Oliva Arroyo also won her singles match, coming from behind for a 5-7, 6-1, 10-8 win… The Saints are number two in Liberty League with a record of 4-1.
LAST MEETING: The Hawks fell to St. Lawrence University with a 6-3 loss the last time these two teams met on March 8, 2013.
WHAT'S NEXT: New Paltz will host Union on Thursday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m.…. St. Lawrence will host Bard College in a Liberty League match on April 18, 2015 at 12:30 p.m.
