Marc Piliero (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) were both double individual event winners in the Hawks' 155.5-106.5 triumph over SUNY Cortland on Friday afternoon at Harriet Holsten Pool.
The Hawks opened up the meet with an impressive win in the 200 medley relay, as the foursome of sophomores
Caleb Treadwell (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and
Colin Duell (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls), senior
Ethan Cooke (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) and Koenig edged out Cortland's squad with a winning time of 1:37.51. In the final event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay team of junior
Austin Kowalsky (Bellmore, N.Y./W.C. Mepham), Treadwell, Cooke and Koenig combined for an event-best 1:27.96.
Koenig and Piliero both played significant roles in the Hawks' success in the individual events. Koenig won both the 50 freestyle (21.79) and the 100 freestyle (48.99), while Piliero touched first in the 200 backstroke (2:09.95) and the 200 individual medley (2:07.84).
New Paltz rises to 2-2 with the win and hosts Mount Saint Mary College tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Elting Pool. Cortland drops to 1-5 with the loss and next competes at the RPI Kumpf Invitational tomorrow at 12 p.m.

Matt Alfultis (Waterford, Conn./Waterford) also captured an individual event, as Alfultis won the 200 breaststroke (2:20.01).
