SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The State University of New York at New Paltz men's swimming team opened their 2016-17 season at the Union Relays where the Hawks placed second out of three teams on Friday afternoon.
New Paltz collected 124 points to earn the runner-up spot behind host Union, which won the meet with 152 points. Bard College landed in third-place with 39 points.
The Hawks won five relay events including the 200 medley which debuted the foursome of freshman
Cooper Knapp (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls), junior
Colin Duell (Glens Falls, N.Y./Glens Falls) and seniors
Caleb Treadwell (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) and Jeff Pietkiewicz (Freemont, Calif./Irvington), who edged out the Dutchmen with a time of 1:41.20.
The Hawks are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 29 when they travel to Ramapo College for their first dual meet of the season.
