NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz men's volleyball team earned a pair of wins on Sunday against two non-conference opponents on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks improved their record to 11-2 and will next face Ramapo College on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. in the Hawk Center.
New Paltz 3, Alderson Broaddus 0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-17)
New Paltz bested Alderson Broaddus in straight sets to claim the victory. Junior outside hitter
Anthony Bonilla (New Paltz, NY / New Paltz) notched match highs with 12 kills and six service aces. Senior middle blocker
Steven Woessner (Massapequa Park, NY / Massapequa) also had a strong game, with seven kills and a game-high four blocks.
Freshman libero
Robert Nolan (Holbrook, NY / Sachem North) had a team-high six digs, while freshman setter
Matthew Grace (Holbrook, NY / Sachem North) led the team in assists with 31.
Sophomore outside hitter
Bradley Schneider (Lockport, NY / Lockport) and freshman outside hitter
Aaron Carrk (Delmar, NY / Bethlehem) registered six and five kills, respectively.
The Battlers took the first point in the first set, but the Hawks went on an 8-3 run and did not trail in the set again.
The second set was more contested early on, as New Paltz held a slim 9-8 advantage. The Hawks would then go on a 15-7 run to draw within match point at 24-15. Alderson Broaddus took the next three, but a service error gave New Paltz a 2-0 advantage.
The Hawks jumped out to a quick 6-1 lead in the third set, but the Battlers eventually came back to tie it at 10-all. A 14-5 run by New Paltz made it game point at 24-15. Alderson Broaddus would take the next two points, before a kill by Carrk sealed the win for New Paltz.

Ryan Cole (Holbrook, NY / Sachem East) each tallied a team-high 12 kills. Senior middle blocker
