CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five student-athletes finished with eight or more kills on Saturday to lead the No. 2 State University of New York at New Paltz men's volleyball team past host No. 13 Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) 3-1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-18, 25-23) in United Volleyball Conference (UVC) action.
With the win, the Hawks improve to 20-4 overall and 4-1 within the UVC. The Engineers, meanwhile, move to 18-7 overall and 3-3 UVC.
New Paltz will play its next two matches at home in the Hawk Center, hosting No. 10 Hunter on Saturday, March 25 at 2 p.m. followed by a UVC showdown with No. 4 Vassar on Wednesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. for Senior Night.
Senior middle blocker
Jake Roessler (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) led all players with a match-high and career-best 18 kills (.364) to go along with five digs, three block assists and one ace.
Junior outside hitter
Anthony Bonilla (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) followed with 13 kills, nine digs and two aces. Senior middle blocker
Steven Woessner (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) filled the box score with 11 kills (.500), four digs, four aces, three assists and two blocks.

Bradley Schneider (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) and freshman
Nick O'Malley (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) floored eight kills apiece and combined for seven total blocks, seven digs and four aces against the Engineers.
