The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team plays the biggest match of their regular season this weekend as they face off against SUNY Geneseo on Friday, September 29 at 3:30 p.m. The Knights have captured eight titles in the last 10 years as they have faced off against the Hawks in each of those finals.

Junior, Lindsay Haley, recognizes that SUNY Geneseo is a tough team, but believes that the Hawks have the pieces to take them down this year. "Geneseo is obviously our biggest rival, but this year I think we have our strongest team yet," said Haley. "I think as long as we focus on doubles and get one or two doubles win then we'll be good because we can definitely take them in singles."

Head coach Rob Bruley is in his 20th season at the helm for SUNY New Paltz and after only winning four championships out of 14 consecutive SUNYAC finals appearances he is ready to take down the Knights. "It's going to be tough without Brittany, but our strength is in our depth this year and I think we can take them down," said Bruley. "We have what it takes as long as we just come out strong in doubles play."

Senior Brittany Grandville is at the top of the Hawks singles and doubles lineup this year, but has to miss the weekend matches due to academic conflicts.

Following their match against SUNY Geneseo the Hawks will face The College at Brockport on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. Although the Golden Eagles traditionally haven't given SUNY New Paltz much trouble the team isn't going to underestimate their opponent.

"We always have a good match with Brockport and we'll be going in confident," said Haley. "Hopefully we have a good match against Geneseo and then that will prepare us for Brockport the next day."

The Hawks currently stand at 2-1 overall and 2-0 in SUNYAC play.
