Mahwah, NJ -- With only 30 seconds left in the second half, the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team was awarded a corner kick and the opportunity to break the 0-0 stalemate against Ramapo College Wednesday.

Sophomore forward Danielle Angyal sent a good service to senior midfielder Raven Blake, who made a shot on the Roadrunners' goal that threatened to end the game, but was saved by goalkeeper Elizabeth Harvell. The contest then went into extra time where the Hawks (2-13-1 overall, 1-6-1 conference) succumbed a 1-0 loss in their penultimate game of the season despite the dedication displayed on the field.

Ramapo College (3-11, 1-6) out-shot SUNY New Paltz 25-10, 12 of which occurred in the first half. The Hawks spent the first 45 minutes of the match relying on their strong defense and keeping their opponent out of their box. Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Tornatore made 12 saves throughout the 98 minutes of play, six of which were in the first half.

SUNY New Paltz entered the second half aggressive by immediately pushing the ball onto its opponent's side. Blake made the first shot on goal just one minute into the half in addition to her shot on goal just before the second 45 minutes were up. Sandwiched between her shots were four more made by senior forward Rachael Purtell in the 55th minute, freshman defender Erica McCue in the 56th minute, senior forward Alicia Fanni in the 68th minute, and sophomore forward Monika Morasse in the 73rd minute.

The Hawks put pressure on Ramapo College throughout the game, which awarded them five corner kicks in the game. SUNY New Paltz used its communication skills to make progressive plays, keeping the Roadrunners on their toes.

The ball was sent back into the Hawks' half of the field as the game reached into overtime. Tornatore made two saves within the first four minutes, and SUNY New Paltz defenders deflected any loose balls that threatened to break their protection. During the 98th minute, the Roadrunners found an opportunity to make their third overtime shot on goal, which successfully slipped into the back of the net, ending the game, 1-0.

SUNY New Paltz hope to bounce back at their final game of the season against SUNY Oneonta Saturday at 1 p.m.
