The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team is gearing up for the conference tournament this weekend. The Hawks will take on No. 4 seed SUNY Cortland Saturday in a semifinal matchup at 1 p.m in Binghamton, NY.
Â
SUNY New Paltz faced the Red Dragons earlier this season and defeated them, 9-0. However, Hawks coach
Rob Bruley knows beating Cortland will be no easy task.
"We know Cortland is going to put up tough resistance and strong opposition," Bruley said. "The team is where I want it to be at the moment, just peaking at the right time. We're going into this weekend with the same mindset we have had all season, one game at a time."
Â
The defending State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champions are confident as they approach the weekend, but are still preaching a "one game at a time" mindset like they have all season.
Â
"We are really stoked and excited to play all these teams," said SUNY New Paltz freshmanÂ
Onalee Batcheller. "We are getting ready and we are just preparing for what's to come."
Â
A win will pit the Hawks back in the SUNYAC finals for the 18th-straight year, competing against either No. 2 seed SUNY Cortland or No. 3 seed SUNY Cortland Sunday.
