Box Score Purchase, NY – The State University of New York at New Paltz women's tennis team improved to 16-0 in dominating fashion, cruising to a 9-0 road win over Manhanttanville College.
"Very convincing all-around performance," said Hawks coach
Rob Bruley. "Great job by Cielle [Pappalardo] and Jessica [Reich] winning on their first start of the season."
The Hawks improved to 15-0 with the win Friday, including their seventh this spring. SUNY New Paltz cleaned up in doubles play, dropping just five sets.
Victoria Zezula and
Lindsay Haley rolled to an 8-0 win at second doubles, while
Trinity Chow and
Laura Koob earned an 8-4 win in first doubles over the Valiants' Renay Charley and Lizza Gonzalez. In their first start of the season, Pappaloardo and Reich came through with an 8-1 victory in third doubles for the Hawks.
Chow took a 6-2, 6-2 win over Charley in first singles, while Koob beat Gonzalez, 6-3, 6-1 in second singles. Zezula,
Courtney Koran and Haley all earned victories in third, fourth and fifth singles, respecitvley. Zezula defeated Izzy Lovejoy, 6-2, 6-2, Koran beat Kelsey Ulzheimer, 6-1, 6-0 and Haley earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Cassie Williamson.
Maddy Bourne then took a quick, 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ariel Abdul-Mateen in sixth singles.
"Both of our freshmen looked extremely strong in doubles and singles play against very strong players," Bruley added.
