Fresh from its 3-0 win over Arcadia University Wednesday night, the State University of York at New Paltz men's volleyball team looks to add to its win total Saturday in its home opener in the Hawk Center against Ramapo College and SUNY Poly.
The Hawks will meet the Roadrunners at 11 a.m. Saturday morning before facing the Wildcats at 3 p.m.
Ramapo is currently 3-2, defeating New Jersey City University 3-1 Wednesday, a team the Hawks beat 3-0 last Sunday. SUNY New Paltz holds a 25-6 record over the Roadrunners since the first meeting in 1995. This season, Ramapo is averaging 11.7 kills per set, 10.6 assists per set, 10.9 digs per set and has 14 service aces. Junior opposite Sean Nieves (6'4, Ringwood, NJ), graduate student middle blocker Conor Charlow (6'7, Towson, MD), and graduate student outside hitter Jason van der Witt form the core of the Roadrunners offense and defense. 
The Wildcats, meanwhile, have had a slow start to the season as they sit 1-6 overall with their lone win coming against Sage, 3-0 last Wednesday. The Hawks are 7-1 all-time over SUNY Poly; the last meeting was a 3-0 SUNY New Paltz win in 2018.
In their seven matches thus far, the Wildcats are averaging 7.32 kills, 6.64 assists, 1.41 blocks, 1.77 service aces and six digs per set, respectively, while hitting at a .115 rate. The core of the team has been junior setter Nathan Farnham (6'0, Penfield, Y), junior defensive specialist/libero Jacob Wicher (5'9, Orchard Park, NY), first year outside hitter Jason Aubrey (6'2, Clifton Park, NY) and graduate student middle blocker Garrett Hassard (6'4, Oneonta, NY).
The Hawks (6-3 overall) are averaging 11.7 kills, 11 assists, 1.5 aces, 9.1 digs and 1.7 blocks per set, respectively, while hitting at a .208 pace. Leaders for SUNY New Paltz have been junior middle blocker Pat Wing (6'4, Massapequa, NY) with 75 kills and 21 blocks, senior setter Kyle Shaffer (6'4, Smithtown, NY) with 254 assists, senior libero Dan LaRosa (6'0, Lake grove, NY) with 70 digs and senior outside hitter Brendan Spulnick (6'4, Clifton Park, NY) with 14 service aces.
