The United Volleyball Conference released its weekly awards Monday with the State University of New York at New Paltz freshman opposite
Evan Kane earning his first UVC Rookie of the Week honor.
Kane becomes the second Rookie of the Week selection for the Hawks, as freshman outside
Carter Lotz was selected Feb. 14 following his career week.
Kane led SUNY New Paltz offensively against No. 2 nationally ranked Springfield Thursday. He had nine kills, an ace and three blocks with four digs and finished second on the team in points with 11.5 in the four-set match.
In a five-set victory over Division I St. Francis-Brooklyn, Kane went a perfect 5-for-5, while adding two blocks and two digs for 6.5 points to aid in the win.
