New Paltz, NY — The State University of New York at New Paltz men's volleyball team released its 2023 schedule Wednesday. After a stellar season resulting in an appearance in the United Volleyball Conference Championship Final and a trip to the NCAA tournament, the Hawks are looking to build on that success with a goal of grabbing a UVC title and a deeper run in the NCAA Tournament.  

SUNY New Paltz opens the season by heading to Chicago to play against Illinois Institute of Technology (Jan. 18), Dominican University (Jan. 19), Benedictine University (Jan. 19), and North Central College (Jan. 20) before heading to the Milwaukee School of Engineering Tri-Match Tournament to face Augustana College and the hosting Raiders Jan. 21. The Hawks are 1-0 against Augustana, besting the Vikings in their previous matchup in 2019, and are 4-0 against the Milwaukee School of Engineering, besting the Raiders in the previous matchup as well.  

SUNY New Paltz then heads to Springfield, MA to play against perennial power Springfield College on Feb. 1. Three days later, the Hawks host their first tri-match of the season, playing Stevens and Wentworth Institute of Technology at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively. They then go back on the road, playing a stretch of away games against Ramapo College, Misericordia University, Messiah University (at Misericordia) and SUNY Poly before hosting their second tri-match of the season Feb. 18, playing against Elms College and Arcadia University.   

SUNY New Paltz begins conference play at home against Nazareth College Feb. 26 at 12 p.m. The Hawks then head to Newark, NJ to face the Scarlett Raiders of Rutgers University-Newark prior to traveling to Cambridge, MA to compete in the MIT Tri-Match against UVC opponent MIT on March 4 at 1 p.m. and will return to the Hawk Center March 9 to complete a home-and-home against the Pride of Springfield. 

The Hawks will travel to Rochester, NY to get their UVC final rematch against the Cardinals of St. John Fisher University on March 25 at 1 p.m.  

The first round of the UVC Tournament begins April 14 at the first and second seeded teams' location, with the championship being held at the No. 1 seeded teams' location on April 29.
